E.T. Phone Home....

Well.....it's been awhile and a lot, I mean A LOT has happened. Travis quit his job at Blue Mountain meats to work at the White Mesa Mill. It is much better this way. The mill pays more and he's not wasting his whole paycheck in gas money just to get to work and back. We finally got new tires on the car thanks to Matt B. and Ross H. who gave us some tires and really nice rims so Trav could make the trek to Salt Lake last week. Which leds me to what happened last week and why we were in Salt Lake... As most of Blanding and possibly everyone else knows Kylan was life flighted to Primary Childrens last Wednesday, August 13. Wednesday morning he was complaining of tummy pains... I freaked and ran him to the doctors, but of course Not one single doctor was there they were all at the funeral. Which I was planning to go if my kid had not been sick. So the pain had went away a bit and we went back home. I took him down again at 1430 when he was complaining of tummy pains again. Dr. Jones did some blood work, urine tests and x-rays to see what was causing the pain. An hour later Kylan had to have an ultra-sound because his Liver and Pancreas stats were WAY high. Dr. Jones called a specialist in Salt Lake and 55 minutes later we (as in Kylan and Me) were being life flighted to Primary Childrens Hospital.
(That picture is a bit hard to see, this is of Kylan in the Emergency Room. The bright red dot is the oxygen detector- if that's what you call it - on his pointy finger which made me laugh because it made me think of "E.T. phone home!" haha)
Ok back to my story... They were so strict about him getting up there ASAP that they didn't want us to drive and then we were just stuck in the ER for 6 hours. RRRG! In the ER they got an I.V. started which is good since they couldn't get it in Blanding. And they drew some more blood. When we got into a room (3071) it was almost 5 am. They took his vitals and of course drew more blood. After getting about an hour of rest this is where the adventure begins. The specialist her name is Dr. Book wanted Kylan to have a CT scan (if you've ever had one you'll feel bad for this little guy) He had to drink 400 cc's of that nasty chalky crap that makes your insides glow. 400 cc's really isn't alot... but to a 3 yr old and that stuff tasted like eating Kool-Aid flavored chalk it's a ton. We were hoping he would lay still during the CT but of course he didn't so they had to sedate him. As soon as the anathesist(?) was done he started to giggle. Which made me ease up and not worry so much. I was laughing at him because my baby was high. He kept laughing and said funny things like, "Where is the snow?" It's August, in Utah...no snow! Later about an hour after the CT scan when we were back in the room Kylan all of a sudden needs to go potty. He thinks he can walk himself (have you ever seen someone so drunk they just kinda staggered then caught themselves and tried to step again and almost fall over???) Well that's exactly how he was trying to get to the bathroom. And little boys don't aim so well but it's worse when they are drugged. Mommy kept laughing at Kylan but Uncle Dee doesn't think it's very funny. (By the way everyone thought Dee was my husband. haha) They drew more blood and by this time I'm not even sure he has any left. Day 1 at the hospital was full of test and trying to get some rest! Next day not so bad. News travels quickly through Blanding so by this time i'm recieving calls from the Bishop, Relief Society Presidency, my neighbors, some of my friends, co-workers, bill collectors - lol had to add it. They don't care if your kid is in the hospital they just want their $$$$. Uncle Rob, Keaton, Kaisha and Ashley came to visit and Daddy finally made it up here sometime last night. Gramma, Grampa, Christian and Taygen had somehow "magically" sent Kylan balloons and toys "all the way from home!" He doesn't understand in credit cards and gift shops yet! This day Kylan had to have a Systic Fybrosis test done. I have no idea but it came back negative which Uncle Rob informs me is GREAT news. Of all the many tests done the only one that came back positive was Mono. And that only showed it was in his body not that it was active. Day 3 Kylan finally gets to eat. He's been started on NO-Fat softs, so for breakfast he has scrambled eggs. He does ok so the doc up's his diet to a more fatty diet so he had a pizza, which made him really happy since he'd been asking for it since Wed night. He had tiny pains after eating but he totally scarfed it down in minutes so we just think after not eating for 3 days he had food overload. That afternoon he got to have a smoothie and did good, they checked his stats and everything seemed to be going GREAT so we were released Saturday evening. We still never found out what caused the Pancreas and Liver to inflame but he is home now and doing much better.
So they had some great stuff to accomidate the kids i'll show some pix down below. I was joking with my family saying the only reason they were releasing Kylan was because they were sick of me. I won't hit details since this is beginning to be sooo long but I will say I kicked a nurse out of my room and dropped the F-bomb and I got into an arguement with another mother and basically told her where to shove it, and told one of the "many" attendings that worked under Dr. Book that if he took more time with my son to find out what was going on instead of just pretending so he could get a paycheck this mess would've been cleared up the first day. That was the day I got released. I guess they can't handle the truth! So..
This is one of the sitting area's where we found a trike and a cow. I will not put a pix of the cow because it is sexual wrong. The thing had horns and utters. Please explain this to me but cows down here aren't hedrosexual. Ok so this is Kylan trying to ride a bike with his IV in tow. This is Kylan and Spidy. I have a way funny story about Jen and Spidy but I know she will kill me if I post it on line call me and I'll fill ya in!
This is a portion of the play room they had set up for the kids. It's called The Forever Young Zone and was donated to the hospital by Steve Young. It also has an area to paint/color and an area to play video games or games on the computer! This is one of the many fountains/ponds we found located out front of the hospital.
This is a "fake" fish tank that you could watch the fish!
Last but definately not last this is of Kira and Kylan taking eachothers vitals!! We'll that's the basic's of Kylan's trip to Primary Children's hospital. Call me if you want more info that is detailed. I'll load the pix of him in the plane as soon as I get ahold of Travis' phone. This is all for now! Thanks to all our friends and family who helped us while we were away and when we got home. L♥ves from the Tree fam!
